I’m Sarah, a mum of two and a personal stylist from Winchester.

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in clothes, as a form of self-expression. Although I have a quiet nature, I’ve always loved expressing myself through dance and fashion, inspired by my flamboyant dance teacher and my grandmother, a seamstress, who made some of our clothes and always dressed up and put on her best scarf.

Growing up, I was confident with my own personal style and my friends and family have always come to me for styling tips and advice.

After university, I began working in a bank. I quickly realised that it wasn’t for me, as I felt that my creativity and individuality were being stifled in that environment.

I moved on to work in marketing, for various national newspapers, including The Telegraph and Daily Mail. Here, I felt at home immediately, in a media career, connecting with like-minded people, where self-expression through ideas and dress were welcomed, embraced and part of the culture.

I had my children later in life and then became a stay-at-home mum for 7 years. It was during this time that I lost my style mojo. I became unsure about which clothes suited me and my new lifestyle and it knocked my confidence for a while. Getting back out into an office pre-Covid, helped me to re-establish my sense of self and my style confidence.  I loved being able to dress up again.

When I got made redundant, it spurred me on to pursue a new career, starting my own business, based around my creativity and my love of clothes and fashion. When I qualified as a personal stylist, I was so excited about being able to help others who are going through something similar.

Re-discovering your sense of style and being happy with the way you look can have a hugely positive impact on your life. Dressing up every day should be a joy, not a chore.

It’s not always about buying lots of new things either. A particular passion of mine is finding multiple ways to style an item of clothing, so that you can buy less but buy better and really make the most of your wardrobe.

I love buying preloved clothing and scouring the charity shops, as well as the high street, to find hidden gems. Looking great doesn’t need to be expensive.
