Wardrobe MOT!

Tips to Do Your Spring Wardrobe MOT!

MAINTAIN ORGANISE TIDY

As we approach the new season  - now is the time to get your wardrobe organised and ready. Believe me you will save yourself so much time on a daily basis and outfit decisions will be less stressful!

Follow these steps to do your own MOT!

Step 1  - Maintain

Before you pack away your Autumn/Winter wardrobe, get those coats to the dry cleaners, boots re-heeled and cleaned  and any minor repairs such as hems or missing buttons sorted out.  Also spend a bit of time de-bobbling knitwear if needed! This way everything will be ready to wear once you get them out again. It sounds simple doesn’t it? But don’t miss out this step!

Step 2 – Organise

Get everything out of your wardrobe from last season and organise into 3 piles.

Pile 1 – Put items here that you have not worn or rarely worn this season. Maybe they don’t fit or you just don’t like them any longer

Pile 2 – Put anything that is damaged or beyond repair in this pile. Any stains that can’t be removed or rips that cannot be sewn or anything that is simply past its best.

Pile 3 – This is your favourites pile. The things you have worn again and again and that you felt amazing in!

Once you have made your 3 piles  -

Take pile 1 to the charity shop or list items on Vinted or Ebay

Take pile 2 to the clothing bin to be recycled. Local supermarkets often have them.

For Pile 3 – Grab a notebook and pen and consider what is in this pile. Ask yourself why do you like an item is it the colour, the fit and style? The feel of the fabric. Taking a note of what you like will help you when you are shopping and investing in new items. You could go for similar fits and styles that you know will work or invest in more colourful items if colour made you feel good!

Step 3 – Tidy

Once you have packed away this seasons wardrobe -

·         Give your wardrobe a good clean. Get into the nooks and crannies and hoover and polish!

·         Invest in some uniform hangers if you haven’t got any already. You can get packs of 10 at Primark for under £3. You will find that your clothes will hang better PLUS they wont get damaged as easily as with wire and plastic hangers. RECYCLE all those wire and plastic ones!

·         Invest in some of my days of the week hanger tabs – available on Etsy – these handy tabs with the days of the week on them cling onto your hangers. You’ll be able to organise your outfit for each day of the week. Spend some time on a Sunday thinking ahead about what is in your diary and plan accordingly. Its amazing how much time and stress it will save you every day!

Follow this MOT process at the start of every new season for a more organised wardrobe and a less stressful life!
