^ Top Tips For Holiday Packing

Do you dread packing for a business trip, weekend away or a holiday?

Is your case always full to bursting yet when you arrive you end up not wearing half of what you have packed?

If the answer is yes to one or both of these questions read on for some tips to make packing a whole lot easier!

TIP 1 - Plan, Plan, Plan!!

This is a really important first stage in the packing process. Don’t leave everything to the day or night before. Putting a bit of thought into planning will ensure you don’t overpack and end up with a suitcase bursting at the seams.

Start thinking about what to take with you a couple of weeks beforehand. That way you can make sure everything is clean and laundered and if there is anything you are lacking you still have time to shop and fill the gaps!

Go through the following checklist when getting your clothes together –

  •    Destination -  check the weather forecast and think about your venue, a campsite holiday will mean more casual outfits and warmer layers in the evenings, a hotel may require dressier clothes for dinner.

  •   What will you be doing? If it’s a mix of sightseeing, pool and beach time you’ll need swimwear and cover ups, comfortable shoes and breathable/ easy outfits to walk around in.

  • Don’t forget to take lighter coloured underwear if your destination is hot and a strapless bra for so you don’t have to worry about straps showing with any of your outfits.

  •   Don’t forget to think about your sleepwear. A shorts and camisole set is super comfy for a sunshine destination.

  • Never throw items in your case ‘just in case’!! I’ll talk more about putting together your capsule a little later but if you have planned well and gone through the checklist you shouldn’t need to add items going down this road leads to that bursting at the seams baggage!!

  • Once you have planned what to take, make a record in a notebook or take photos so you can refer back the next time you are packing for a similar break. It will give you a head start!

  •     Packing well takes a practice and a little trial and error. A really useful thing to do when you return is to make a note of anything you didn’t end up wearing and also what you loved wearing. Again, both useful pieces of information to give you a that head start next time.
