^ 6 Autumn Accessory Trends to look Out For

As I write, we still have a couple of weeks of summer holidays left but Autumn fashion is already creeping into the shops alongside the last of the summer sale rails.

I love the start of the new season - researching the new trends and how we can incorporate them into our wardrobes.

Accessories are a great way to update your wardrobe and keep it fresh and exciting for Autumn - you don’t need to spend alot either. I have identified 6 key trends that are super easy to get on board with. You will be able to track most of these items down in your local charity shops. Read on for all you need to know..

1 Scrunchies

Yes you did read that correctly! They are back! This time around they are worn supersized or layered. For beautiful handmade and colourful scrunchies head to katewhyley.com and support this amazing small business.

2 Corsages

Sarah Jessica Parker made the corsage famous in the 90’s when she wore an oversized version on her dress in Sex and the city. They have already been around this summer and are set to continue to be popular this Autumn with designers attaching them to belts, chokers, skirts and dresses. I picked up a beautiful red corsage brooch at my local charity shop recently. It’s great worn on my blazers and cardigans for a pop of colour. If you want to add something special to an eve outfit Mango have some fabulous chokers this season.

3 Hollywood Glamour

I love this trend it’s so me! Think big, chunky sparkly jewels and pearls. On the catwalk models wore layer upon layer of oversized jewels as bracelets. Once again you will be able to find all manner of costume jewellery at your local charity shops. Look out for chandelier earrings, strings of pearls and colourful jewels then pile them up with your t-shirt and jeans! Go big or go home!

4 Oversized Bags

I don’t think these ever went away for me! I couldn’t get anything in the teeny micro bags which were trending last season! You’ll be glad to hear that this season bags have sized up! Feel free to carry around everything but the kitchen sink this Autumn!

5 Bucket Hats

I can’t help thinking of the Britpop group Oasis whenever I see a bucket hat! They were so iconic in the 90’s. This time around designers have played with texture and fabric to give them a modern feel. You will see bright colours and fluffy and crochet fabrics! A perfect accessory for when the temperature drops! The high street is sure to get onboard with this trend.

6 Long Gloves

With the success of Bridgerton, I am not surprised atall that opera style long gloves have made it onto the autumn catwalks. Designers showcased sheer and organza fabrics which looked so elegant with evening style dresses. Leather versions would be so practical as an extra layer of warmth under your coats and jackets.

So there you have it - a summary of (in my opinion) the most accessible trends to try this Autumn.

Some other trends you will see:

  • Masculine ties

  • Ballet core - think leg warmers and ballet slipper style shoes

  • Knee high socks

Happy hunting! xxx
