^ 6 Tips to help you make the most of your wardrobe

The most sustainable item of clothing is the one you already own!

Read on for my 6 tips to help you get the most out of your wardrobe!

  1. Look after what you have alter, mend, repair, clean

All too often we put off doing simple repairs or taking items to the dry cleaners then the pile gets bigger and bigger until it’s easier to discard everything rather than sort it out. Go through your clothes and accessories regularly and check if things need a bit of TLC then get them seen to as soon as you can. Looking after your wardrobe is kinder to the environment and kinder on your purse too!

2 Think about what you wear and don't wear

Try turning the hanger around everytime you wear something then you will start to get a clear picture of items you are not reaching for. Maybe they are the wrong size or you just aren’t liking them anymore. Donate any items that aren’t bringing you joy. If you aren’t sure how to style something have a look for inspiration on pinterest or in magazines and have a go at restyling an item. Restyle and rewear!

3 Get organised!

If you plan your daily outfits it will save you time and will also mean that you will naturally start to wear more of your clothes too. No more overwhem in the mornings! I invented a set of hanger tabs you can hang your daily outfits on at the front of your wardrobe. Visit my Etsy shop to order £25 plus postage.

4 Shop your wardrobe as mentioned above gather some inspiration of outfits you like the look of and then explore your wardrobe to copy the look. Mix and match items you would not normally to create some new looks and have fun with it!

5 Declutter regularly and unearth forgotten items!

Have a regular run through your wardrobe maybe once every couple of months and pull out items no longer serving you. You will definitely find some surprise items you had forgotten about too.

6 Keep a record of your favourite ‘go to’ outfits take pictures with your phone or write them down. Having a record means you will be able to pull them out quickly when needed! Also you will start to build a picture of items/looks you are loving which will be useful when shopping.

Hopefully these tips will help you to build a wardrobe that serves you well. If you still feel overwhelmed and you would like help to make the most of what you have get in touch to chat about -
